SUL OPAC updates (CS, MS, JW)

  • Corporate author added to browse
  • Conference call dominated by discussion of usability testing.  Some discussion on addition of library links to bottom of search page, but there was group consensus that this was not a good idea.
  • Voting protocol discusssed--disagreement about how long representatives have to report to their institutions, get feedback and dicsuss at SUL OPAC committee meetings.  Decided to maintain the status quo of a voice vote, not roll call vote.  Dissenting opinions would  be  heard but majority rules in decision making.  Rich mentioned past OPAC subcommittee document for ALEPH activities which provided guidance on how resolutions would be made. He indicated he would send these out.
  • Colleen would ask Barbara to add action items to the bottom of minutes.
  • Jason recommended that a list/blog be added to the test interface for FCLA changes to MANGO test.  This would be in addition to the RSS feed (Jason include subscription address here) already available.
  • Committee representatives will talk about icons at the institution level.
  • RefWorks citation export is still being tweaked; possibilities include addition of RefWorks export per item in Result list. Endnote export capability is being explored.
  • Map embedding in Catalog is also being discussed, but FCLA faces difficulties of call number/location granularity.
  • A TAG report separate from the OPAC Subcommittee will be distributed.
  • Addition of book jackets was removed from OPAC list due to cost.

Open tickets to FCLA

Rich indicated that like in previous OPAC environments, UF will likely need to request some specific features that the rest of the SUS will not want to integrate.  Jimmie mentioned PALMM materials are now in Endeca.  Marilyn asked if exact phrase options, which is not a priority for other other institutions, should be added as an RT.  Colleen will send an RT to ask that FCLA add the Exact Phrase option to test based on consensus among this group.

Open ticket items are few for UF specifically--LKR linking and specific facet/call number problem still an issue.  Rich will request all in the Communications group get access to RT.

Basic Search page options (RB)

Rich will include foreign language searching options information once Nancy Poehlmann sends it to him.  Once included, we will reveal this new interface in a brown bag.

Problem Report (JF)--finalize form and submit to UF Library Systems for implementation

Jason will finalize the form and sen out to the group.  This group will provide feedback and possible label for the form (e.g Problems/Comments).  Rich will be able to make the change to the links and will notify FCLA when it is ready.

Help pages (CS, MO, MD)

Colleen, Matthew and Marilyn are working on these.  These will be shown in the brown bag.

Usability report (JF, MO, SG)
